Field Fence

Field fence for livestock, game and boundary fencing
Field fence (also called game fence or veld fence) is a ready-made, knotted wire fence. Its horizontal line wires are closer together at the bottom to keep smaller animals in, and wider at the top. It goes up quickly and needs fewer droppers than plain-wire fencing. We supply it in 100 m rolls, in two coatings:

• Class C standard galvanised – cost-effective for most inland applications.
• Class A heavy galvanised – a thicker zinc coating for longer life in coastal and high-moisture areas.

Line-wire fence

• 6 lines, 0.90 m high: for sheep, goats and small livestock
• 7 lines, 1.13 m high: for sheep, goats and smaller livestock
• 8 lines, 1.15 m high and 9 lines, 0.99 m high: for general livestock
• 10 lines, 1.19 m high: for mixed livestock and cattle
• 13 lines, 1.88 m high and 14 lines, 2.11 m high: for game and boundary fencing
• Stay spacing: 15 cm (stronger, better for small animals) or 30 cm (more economical)

Ranges

• Standard / heavy-duty: 2.24 mm line wires, 2.50 mm stays and 2.90 mm top and bottom edge wires
• Light-duty: 2.0 mm line wires and stays with 2.50 mm edge wires – a lighter, more economical option
• Mzansi: our value range
• Square-mesh heavy-duty: 100 × 100 mm block size, 1.2 m and 1.8 m high

Compare WFSA product tiers and specifications

WFSA product tiers: Mzansi / Econo and specified ranges

The WFSA Mzansi / Econo range is a commercial-value range for selected price-sensitive, general-purpose, retail, hardware-store and lower-load applications where a project-specific certified or warranted specification is not required. Select it for the intended use; it is not an automatic substitute for heavier-duty, fully specified or standards-compliant material.

Depending on the product, differences can include actual wire diameter, coating level, mass, steel content and manufacturing tolerance. Compare the individual specifications rather than height, mesh opening or purchase price alone.

Product tierPurposeWhat to check
Mzansi / EconoSelected price-sensitive and general-purpose applicationsActual diameter, coating, mass, intended use and warranty status
Standard WFSA rangeGeneral agricultural and commercial use appropriate to the productThe stated individual product specification
Specified / Heavy / Compliant rangeProjects requiring a defined technical specificationExact diameter, tensile properties, coating, standard and certification required; a range label alone is not certification

Unless specifically stated otherwise, economy / VL / LD products are not supplied with a general warranty on service life or long-term performance. This does not exclude statutory consumer rights where applicable. Read the WFSA terms and conditions and confirm any product-specific warranty before ordering. Do not use economy material as a substitute for a required structural or certified specification.

Compare line count, height, horizontal block width, diameter, roll length, coating and mass. Integrated vertical stay wires usually remove the need for separate strand-spacing droppers but do not replace structural posts or bracing. Read field-fence designations and specifications.
