Barbed Wire

Barbed wire for farm, boundary and security fencing
We manufacture our barbed wire in-house. Barbed wire is the most cost-effective way to keep livestock in and deter intruders along long boundary lines. We supply single-strand, double-strand and high-tensile barbed wire in two coatings:

• Class C standard galvanised – cost-effective for most inland applications.
• Class A heavy galvanised – a thicker zinc coating for longer life in coastal and high-moisture areas.

Our range

• Single-strand: Karoo-1 oval (2.80 × 1.90 mm), 2.90 mm and 2.24 mm heavy line wire, Agribarb and “baby” (2.00 mm), Mzansi (±1.60 mm), light-duty (1.57 mm) and VL (±1.50 mm).
• Double-strand (Iowa): 2.50 mm standard, 2.20 mm heavy-duty, 2.00 mm Iowa, 1.70 mm light-duty and Karoo-2 (1.60 mm per strand).
• Reverse-twist high-tensile: 1.57 mm line wire – lighter rolls with high breaking strength, harder to stretch or tamper with.
• Roll lengths: from 108 m up to 845 m, in roll weights from about 8 kg to 50 kg, depending on the type.

We also supply the standards, droppers, straining wire and posts to complete your fence.
The products in our online store are the lines we keep in stock at all times. We can supply the full range above on order – contact our Centurion, Bloemfontein or George branch for advice and a quote.

Compare WFSA product tiers and specifications

WFSA product tiers: Mzansi / Econo and specified ranges

The WFSA Mzansi / Econo range is a commercial-value range for selected price-sensitive, general-purpose, retail, hardware-store and lower-load applications where a project-specific certified or warranted specification is not required. Select it for the intended use; it is not an automatic substitute for heavier-duty, fully specified or standards-compliant material.

Depending on the product, differences can include actual wire diameter, coating level, mass, steel content and manufacturing tolerance. Compare the individual specifications rather than height, mesh opening or purchase price alone.

Specified / Heavy / Compliant rangeProjects requiring a defined technical specificationExact diameter, tensile properties, coating, standard and certification required; a range label alone is not certification

Unless specifically stated otherwise, economy / VL / LD products are not supplied with a general warranty on service life or long-term performance. This does not exclude statutory consumer rights where applicable. Read the WFSA terms and conditions and confirm any product-specific warranty before ordering. Do not use economy material as a substitute for a required structural or certified specification.
